As part of the expansion of practice squads to 10 players, the league is letting each team bring back two more experienced players.
The Panthers are taking full advantage of that, signing a pair of guys with starting experience to the $6,300 a week practice squad.
The team announced they had signed linebacker D.J. Smith, safety Robert Lester, cornerback Carrington Byndom, linebacker Adarius Glanton, wide receiver Tavarres King, wide receiver Marcus Lucas, tackle Andrew McDonald, running back Darrin Reaves, defensive tackle Micanor Regis and defensive tackle Casey Walker.
Smith started nine combined games for the Packers in 2011 and 2012, and has also had stints with the Chargers and Texans. Lester started four games for the Panthers last year.
All the players they signed were in camp with them this year.
