The Ravens are down to 53 players on their active roster and that group is looking healthy as they start the week of preparation for the start of the regular season.

Baltimore got several ailing players back at practice on Saturday. Cornerbacks Lardarius Webb, Jimmy Smith and Asa Jackson all returned to the field, giving the Ravens a much stronger look in the secondary than they’ve had for much of the summer. Running back Bernard Pierce was also back to work after suffering a concussion in the team’s third preseason game, leaving coach John Harbaugh pleased with the way things are shaping up for his team.

“Very encouraging to get all those guys practicing,” Harbaugh said, via the team’s website. “I think we had everybody practicing today. It’s encouraging to see that. Those guys all looked good. We’ll just take it one day at a time from there.”

The return of the three corners may have something to do with the team’s decision to keep only that trio and Chykie Brown on their initial 53-man roster, although reports out of Baltimore are that Derek Cox will be brought back to the team in the near future.
