Browns signing Vinston Painter off Broncos practice squad

The Browns are continuing to shuffle their roster ahead of the start of the regular season.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that Cleveland is signing offensive lineman Vinston Painter off of Denver’s practice squad and adding him to their 53-man roster. The move will be guaranteed three weeks of pay at the active roster level even if the team should decide to move in a different direction.

Painter has not played in a regular season game since the Broncos made him the 173rd pick in last year’s draft, but has seen time at tackle and guard in practices and the preseason. He’s the third offensive lineman added to the roster since the team set their initial 53-man roster, joining waiver acquisitions Ryan Seymour and Caylin Hauptmann as new members of the Browns.

The Broncos have signed long snapper Kevin McDermott to the practice squad to take Painter’s place.

Lost in all the Manziel hoopla is the fact that the Cleveland Brown offense (outside of Cameron) is looking mediocre at best.

    Offensive line, patched together.
    Ben Tate won’t stay healthy.
Terrance West has been a disappointment.
    No number 1 wide receiver.

The factory of Sadness has new employees but same ol’ potential.

Whew, he’s black. For a second there I thought he might be related to Curtis Painter and that would really suck.

Browns have 21 undrafted players on their 53 man roster. Unreal.

    2-14 in 2014.

Another case of the Browns front office thinking they are smarter than everyone else.

I believe the Seahawks had 21 undrafted players on their 53 man roster last year.

Not totally unreal. The Seahawk’s had 15 last year while the Saint’s had 24 on their roster last season. Burfict is a UDFA. The key is not the amount of UDFA’s on your roster, the key is the guy who’s evaluating the talent.

The draft used to be 17 rounds, what’s wrong with 8th rounders.

Offensive line patched together? We have 2 all pros, 2 2nd rounders and a average vet. Not many teams have that much on their line.

Must be the remnants of Lombardi’s horrible drafting. You draft the busts, let others find the gems, then you stick out your chest while screaming “Look at ME!!!!” as you cut your own draftees and sign someone else’s developmental signees. Oh, and this assumes you know how to develop them once they’re yours. Nothing ever changes in Brownsville.

    Deep D-line, O-line is a strength…….

Seahawks 11 undrafted players on this years 53 man roster. All but 1 played in the Pac 12 or SEC. Only 1 played at a small school. Ill have to check the Browns undrafted players, where they played

And they have called me 6 times in the last two weeks trying to sell me season tickets to see guys who will be working security at the mall next year…

I heard Kevin Love has a good arm and LeBron can take Gordon’s spot at WR. Might even give Dion a shot at RB. Bet they would win more than 4 games!
