Steven Jackson “extremely excited” to face Saints

Running back Steven Jackson was a spectator for most of Falcons training camp and all of their preseason games as a result of a hamstring injury, but he was able to get on the practice field as things drew to a close in August.

That put Jackson on track to play against the Saints in the regular season opener and nothing has knocked him off of it in the interim. Jackson said Tuesday that he’s ready for his first game action of the year.

“I’m extremely excited for Week 1,” Jackson said, via the team’s website. “It’s been a training camp that I missed the majority of the time, but I’ve been working hard physically and mentally to prepare for this coming Sunday; I feel good about it.”

Jackson missed four games last season and posted a career-low average per carry, something that was at least partially caused by the team’s poor offensive line play. The Falcons have worked to upgrade that area over the offseason and they’ll get their first chance to show they’ve turned the page against the New Orleans front seven on Sunday.

Last year was a disaster for the Falcons.

Everything that could go wrong did.

    They weren’t that bad.

But, they’re not as good as they think they are.

It’s telling that when you could double your win total from the previous season and still not make the playoffs…

    4 & 12 to…

    8 & 8 and outside of the playoffs…

No way he lasts 16 games and for the entire second half of the year he’ll be “banged up”.

I got Devonta Freeman in my fantasy draft instead of this dinosaur. By week 6 or 7 I will look like a genius.

Pretty sad what this site has become when you have a quality individual and HOF candidate coming back from injury ( who also came on strong at the end of last season).. and the comments are loaded by saint trolls talking smack….as classy as Steve Gleason jokes

He’s always had pretty good games against the Saints. Given that was with a Rams team that always seemed to trip the Saints up. Now he’s with Atlanta so there isn’t much to worry about. I’m extremely excited to get week 1 underway so Falcons fans dreams can be crushed very early in the season.

Jackson is talking the talk but I don’t look for him to be much help to the Falcons again this season. Wisely the Falcons have other options ready.

Freeman is 4th on the depth chart, you were better off drafting Rodgers or Smith…..not so genius pick
