Michael Sam: “It’s been a roller coaster this past week”

Being cut by the Rams and not even offered a spot on the practice squad was a low.

But today should be another high for Michael Sam, as he’s expected to be signed to the Cowboys practice squad if he passes a physical (which there’s no reason he should fail).

It’s been a roller coaster this past week but I’m happy where I’m at now,” Sam told MailOnline, via ESPNDallas.com. “I’m just looking forward to being a Cowboy, my focus is on making the team. . . .

“It has all happened so quickly, but it’s exciting, I just wanna get back to playing football you know. “I haven’t had chance to speak to any of my family yet, not even my mom, but I will. I never followed the Cowboys growing up because I never had a team. I am a fan of defenses and Dallas need some help, that’s why I’m going.”

The fit seems perfect on so many levels. The Cowboys clearly aren’t afraid of the spotlight — they seek it out. And they need all the help on defense they can get, running the 4-3 defense he fits into.

So now he’ll get a chance to settle in and be part of a roster.
