As the 2014 regular season approaches, the popular fantasy football destination known as FanDuel continues to elevate its profile.
Via Variety.com, the company has raised another $70 million through investors that include the NBC Sports Group. Which makes us related to FanDuel. Sort of.
As a gesture of goodwill (and in lieu of baking them cookies that may or may not include a substance that is legal in my current location of Seattle), I’ll make a quick mention of what they do.
For a $25 entry fee, the salary-cap based, weekly fantasy-football contest pays out $1 million in prizes, with a grand prize of $100,000.
Since the contest focuses only on Sunday and Monday games, the first edition gets rolling on Sunday, September 7, at 1:00 p.m. ET. The top 8,000 teams for the week will win a cash prize, with the payouts coming after the Monday night games end.
So do what I plan to do at some point over the next three days and plunk down a mere $25 for the ability to win plenty, if you select the right combination of players and score the right amount of points.
