Jim Kelly, the Hall of Famer who quarterbacked the Bills for 11 seasons, revealed today that doctors told him he’s cancer-free.

“This is some of the greatest news I’ve ever gotten,” Kelly said in a statement. “It’s been a long road, and I’m still not back to one hundred percent, but I have a lot to be thankful for.”

Kelly had part of his jaw surgically removed in 2013 after he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. This year cancer reappeared, and he was required to undergo chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

But last month doctors told Kelly they saw no evidence of cancer after an examination, and today he was told that a series of biopsies revealed that the cancer is gone. Kelly has been through a lot in the last two years, but he can now celebrate that he’s returning to health.
