The Seattle Seahawks will have to test some of their depth at cornerback against a high-powered Green Bay Packers passing attack Thursday night.
Cornerback Tharold Simon is inactive for the season opener as head coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday he will likely require knee surgery to repair minor damage in his knee. Seattle will have to turn to DeShawn Shead and recently acquired Marcus Burley as their fourth and fifth options at cornerback.
Also inactive for the Seahawks is running back Christine Michael (hamstring), linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis (hamstring), tight end Cooper Helfet (knee), receiver Kevin Norwood, receiver Phil Bates and defensive end Greg Scruggs.
The Packers will be without tight end Brandon Bostick (fibula) and cornerback Demetri Goodson (concussion) due to injuries. In addition, quarterback Scott Tolzien, linebacker Carl Bradford, defensive tackle Mike Pennel, receiver Jeff Janis and linebacker Jayrone Elliott are inactive for Green Bay.
