Why John Kuhn’s TD was a nice score in more ways than one

John Kuhn AP

When Packers fullback John Kuhn scored the first touchdown in Thursday night’s Packers-Seahawks season opener, many fantasy football fans were left to frown. After all, it was Kuhn, not tailback and universal fantasy starter Eddie Lacy, who got the score.

However, there were others who apparently really, really liked Kuhn’s two-yard scoring rush — and we’re not talking about the Packers fans who have been known to yell his name at Lambeau Field.

Via Twitter, online betting site Sportsbook.ag reported that Kuhn’s score caused “a pretty big loss” on a proposition asking bettors to pick the player who scored first. Kuhn opened at 70-1 and was bet to 20-1, the sportsbook said.

Kuhn scored just once in each of the last two seasons for Green Bay. He did, however, record six TDs in 2011, a season in which Green Bay scored 70 times.

And at the risk of redboarding, we’ll stop right there.

I am wondering which 400lb cow that had a crush on Kuhn just hit the jackpot? Can I get directions to her trailer park in Wisconsin.

I will never forget the typical home playoff loss against my giants, a fumble and the meat heads in the crowd were cheering for him!

    Didn’t seattle’s kicker score first?

If Seattle didn’t fumble on that punt catch by Earl cheese heads would only had 3 points. Offense sucks and will suck all year. TT needs to play D for the hapless and tasteless loser Packass.

  7. mynameiscoopermanning says: Sep 4, 2014 10:45 PM

Apparently, that’s going to be the only time the Packers score a TD.

    Sounds like some insider info

The Packers look soft to me.

Yikes. Rogers coughs up the safety, Culpepper style. Not looking very good right now. GO PACK

Pepper is old and tire and no factor, washed up and waste of money.

  12. wisconsinhillfolk says: Sep 4, 2014 10:54 PM

Looks like Coach McCarthy put on 40 lbs… to improve his play calling?

  13. dethsupport says: Sep 4, 2014 10:55 PM

I love to see a safety. Best play in football. Green Bay’s O-Line is shoddy.

  14. 25yearindyfan says: Sep 4, 2014 10:56 PM

Seattle makes a lot of offenses look stupid. Except Indy.

  15. thebirdofprey2 says: Sep 4, 2014 10:59 PM

So many of us tried to tell Packer fans this isn’t back in the day…Seattle is the defending champion and this doesn’t even look like two teams in the same league

  16. viggyhead says: Sep 4, 2014 10:59 PM

    Packers are getting out classed.

  17. kkalama1 says: Sep 4, 2014 10:59 PM

Dang the packers are struggling. Last year it was seattle’s defense, this year our offense is playing on another level!!!

  19. stellarperformance says: Sep 4, 2014 11:03 PM

Whew…long night. Could be a long year. The only saving grace is the indisputable fact the Packers still own the Vikings.

At least they have that going for them.

  20. purplepunisher says: Sep 4, 2014 11:16 PM

Packers Defense is no different then the last few years soft and giving up 9 yards a run!

Offensive line, SOFT and let rushers run right through them.

Coaching soft, going for it at mid field only down by 10 and of course giving up another sack!

That crackling sound you hear is Rodgers collar bone being crushed very soon this season!

  21. dethsupport says: Sep 4, 2014 11:18 PM

They’ll own the Vikings? You don’t know that. They’ll have more and more injuries, but that might be a good thing if your starting Brad Jones.

  22. numba1wiscosportsfan says: Sep 4, 2014 11:23 PM

Anyone else curious about what my guys Mecca and Steller think about tonight’s action?! I’m worried their accounts got suspended…

  23. dethsupport says: Sep 4, 2014 11:25 PM

Game’s over. Well done Packers! Your offensive line is in tatters (as per usual) and your defense is soft (Brad Jones rules).

  24. mediasloppy says: Sep 4, 2014 11:28 PM

Watching Bevell and Harvin is basically watching the vikings when they both were on the team in MN.

  25. viggyhead says: Sep 4, 2014 11:29 PM

Stellar don’t say something you might regret. Vikings are a scary dark horse

  26. RegisHawk says: Sep 4, 2014 11:29 PM

    Fail-Mary that.

  27. conormacleod says: Sep 4, 2014 11:30 PM

Wow. AP and the Vikings might rush for 300 against that soft Packer defense. Sure, they’re playing Seattle, but every facet of the Packers game looks terrible.

  28. 34defense2014 says: Sep 4, 2014 11:32 PM

Yeah, yeah, it looks like a High School team against SEC! Unreal

  29. toykofilthblasterlovespftpoet says: Sep 4, 2014 11:33 PM

packers are soooo owned tonight by the hawks. one and done in the playoffs if they make it, ha!

  30. Norseman says: Sep 4, 2014 11:33 PM

I see GB still doesn’t have a defense, lost any hope of an offensive line, and receivers are definitely not as good as they once were.

Pack getting whacked around physically. I could tell mid-way through the 2nd quarter they were going to lose the way they got pushed around.

Don’t be surprised if the Pack isn’t back this year- in the playoffs I mean.

  31. micknangold says: Sep 4, 2014 11:36 PM

    “Didn’t seattle’s kicker score first?”

I dunno, are field goals touchdowns now?

  32. britishteeth says: Sep 4, 2014 11:36 PM

Packer fans love their white players, especially when their name is a racial epithet.

  33. 34defense2014 says: Sep 4, 2014 11:37 PM

Well, he did it again? “BAM BAM BAM” Cam, knocked someone out of the game again? UNREAL, what a player

  34. oxycode30 says: Sep 4, 2014 11:37 PM

Ahh Chicago already half a game up on GB without taking a snap! That O-line is pathetic and a well worn and lazy Peppers being the big acquisition on D will make for a long season in Dogpatch/Green Bay. Bears win the division hardly breaking a sweat!

  35. 34defense2014 says: Sep 4, 2014 11:39 PM

    A. P is going to have a field day! For sure

  36. officialgame says: Sep 4, 2014 11:41 PM

The Little Sisters of the Poor own the Vikings so that’s not saying much.

  37. lionscometola says: Sep 5, 2014 1:43 AM

Packers look like they will be in a fight for 3rd place in the NFCN this season. I hope that Bulaga’s injury isn’t serious because I don’t want any excuses when you guys come to our home and get wrecked in a couple of weeks.

  38. skawh says: Sep 5, 2014 4:37 PM

thank Earl Thomas’ idiotic punt handling for that TD….Earl, get back to your position already.
