Panthers and Lions hitting hard, not doing much

The prospect of a Cam Newton-Matthew Stafford matchup hasn’t yielded much.

With Newton still sore (but improving) and Stafford not getting much help, the Panthers hold a commanding 3-0 lead midway through the second quarter.

The Lions have turned the ball over and missed a field goal, negating a significant edge in possession.

And while the Panthers haven’t looked smooth offensively, they cobbled together a field goal drive moments ago which showed some signs.

Newton’s still obviously not 100 percent, but he scrambled a bit, and made a few passes to get them in position. The Lions haven’t gotten many clean shots on him, but he’s out of the pocket more than he has been all year.
