The Texans were hoping rookie Louis Nix would be the answer in the middle for their defense.
But now that he’s hurt, they went for experience.
The Texans announced they had signed veteran Ryan Pickett, to replace the third-round pick who was placed on injured reserve.
Nix injured his wrist lately, but hadn’t played a down for the Texans after an offseason knee procedure.
Pickett wasn’t re-signed by the Packers this offseason, but is now back for his 14th season. He has the kind of heft the Texans need inside, and should be a quick study if he’s in game shape.
