The Lions beat the Jets last Sunday despite a limited Calvin Johnson in large part because the offense was able to move the ball through the air by utilizing other receivers.

Johnson’s ankle hasn’t improved enough for him to take part in either of the team’s practices this week and now another injury has created some concern about the player who did the most to cover for Johnson being less than his full self.

Wide receiver Golden Tate, who had eight catches for 116 yards against the Jets, is listed as limited on Thursday’s injury report with a hamstring injury. Tate wasn’t on the injury report at all on Wednesday, which indicates a new problem that popped up at some point in the last two days.

His status for Friday’s practice will let us know whether there’s a reason to worry about the condition of both Detroit starting receivers heading into the matchup with the Bills.
