The Packers have added defensive line depth in advance of Thursday’s game vs. Minnesota.
The club has promoted rookie Luther Robinson from the practice squad, the team said Thursday.
The 23-year-old Robinson appeared in all four preseason games. He was waived on August 30, then re-signed to the practice squad the next day. A Miami (Fla.) product, Robinson is listed as a defensive end for Green Bay, which employs a base 3-4 scheme.
The promotion of Robinson comes after Green Bay played 77 defensive snaps in Sunday’s win at Chicago. Also, with rain expected, it’s possible Thursday’s Vikings-Packers matchup might have a grind-it-out feel, so bolstering the DL ranks seems a sound move.
