Buccaneers fullback Jorvorskie Lane was suspended two games for violating the league’s PED policy yesterday, but he didn’t use the time-honored Adderall defense.

Instead, he went for the diet pill defense.

According to Ira Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune, Lane said his positive test came from an over-the-counter supplement which contained a banned substance.

“For those unaware of my back story, I was out of the NFL last season due to my weight, which is an issue that I have battled with for many years,” Lane said in a statement. “I purchased an over-the-counter medication to help my weight-loss efforts and, without my knowledge, it contained a banned substance.

“I appreciate the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization, head coach Lovie Smith, the Glazer family and Bucs Nation for standing behind me while I serve this two-game suspension. I look forward to being back and helping this team win football games.’’

Lane was the only fullback on the roster, and had two carries for 56 yards this year — 54 coming on one run against the Panthers.

“How much more can I say?’’ Bucs coach Lovie Smith said. “He made a mistake and when you make mistakes, there’s a punishment that comes along with it. He’ll serve his two-game suspension and his team will be here then.’’

Players are ultimately responsible for whatever goes into their bodies, but give Lane credit for not falling back on the usual excuse.
