The Dolphins bolstered their special teams and secondary depth for Sunday’s game at Chicago, signing first-year cornerback Lowell Rose from their practice squad on Saturday, the club announced.

The signing of Rose could be related to the health of safety Jimmy Wilson, who is doubtful with a hamstring injury. Wilson played 60 defensive snaps and 15 special teams snaps in Sunday’s loss to Green Bay. While the 6-foot-1, 192-pound Rose doesn’t figure to have a prominent defensive role against Chicago, he could take some special teams reps.

The 24-year-old Rose previously had stints with the 49ers (2013), Jets (2014) and Chargers (2014). The Dolphins signed him to their practice squad on August 31.

The Dolphins waived rookie defensive tackle Deandre Coleman to make room for Rose.
