John Idzik is not amused by your airplane banners

Idzik

When the criticism reaches the point where you can’t even look up in the sky without getting more of it, the natural inclination is to keep your head down.

And that’s what Jets General Manager John Idzik said he was going to do.

According to George Willis of the New York Post, Idzik was asked about the “Fire John Idzik” banner which flew over practice yesterday (while he stood with owner Woody Johnson), and he had a predictable response.

What do you think I think?” Idzik said. “We’ll get it straight.”

When approached by Willis, Idzik was at the airport in Greensboro, N.C., on his way to scout tonight’s Clemson-Wake Forest game (or maybe to tailgate with coach Rex Ryan).

That suggests he’s still working on the future of the Jets, though no one can be quite sure what that’s going to look like or who it will invovle. They’re 1-8, with no clear answer at quarterback, and closing in on a franchise-record losing streak.

So the act of getting it straight may well fall to someone else.
