Wembley field in “poor condition”

Wembley

England manager Roy Hodgson will probably be even more upset.

Before Sunday’s Cowboys-Jaguars game at Wembley Stadium got started, Gil Brandt of NFL Media passed along the verdict regarding the status of the turf/pitch/whatever.

Per Brandt, the field is in “poor condition” and “slick.”

Slickness has been a concern in past games at Wembley. The FOX broadcast of the game shows small bare spots throughout the turf.

This is the third NFL game to be played there in 2014. In six days, England plays Slovenia.

If the NFL plans to consistently play three or more games at Wembley, efforts will be needed to improve the quality of the playing surface.

Then again, maybe the goal is to simulate some of the many substandard grass fields in the NFL’s American venues.
