The 49ers got cornerback Tramaine Brock back from a toe injury against the Saints last weekend, only to see him hurt his hamstring.

It looks like that’s going to send Brock back to the bench. Brock is expected to miss a week or two as he recovers from the injury and he probably won’t be the only member of the secondary out for this weekend’s game with the Giants.

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said Thursday that he’s putting a game plan together that doesn’t include Jimmie Ward, who has played extensively in the nickel during his rookie season.

“Don’t expect him to play this week and we’ll go from there,” Fangio said, via CSNBayArea.com.

Rookie Dontae Johnson saw a spike in playing time when Ward was sidelined by a quad injury earlier this season and should see another one against the Giants.
