Earlier this afternoon, Washington quarterback Colt McCoy said he wasn’t sure what his status was for this week’s game.

Something in the ensuing hours made him a little more confident.

McCoy told Liz Clarke of the Washington Post that if he’s medically cleared and isn’t risking further injury to his neck, that he expects to start against the Giants.

Yeah, I would expect that,” McCoy said.

McCoy said he knew something was wrong with his neck from the moment he absorbed the fifth of the six sacks he took.

“I still played a few more snaps, but I just knew something wasn’t right,” McCoy said.

So while his condition is still up in the air (and leaving the door open to the possibility of Robert Griffin III or Kirk Cousins or who knows who else playing), the fact he expects to be back in there is worth filing away early in the week.
