With the Titans closing in on the top pick in next year’s NFL Draft, quarterback will be near the top of their wish list.
Which is convenient, since they’re probably going to need another one this week.
According to Jim Wyatt of the Tenneseean, rookie Zach Mettenberger is expected to miss the rest of the season after aggravating his right shoulder injury in yesterday’s 36-7 loss to the Giants.
X-rays taken at the stadium yesterday were negative, and he’s getting an MRI today to confirm the degree of the injury. But it’s worse than the grade one sprain he suffered last week and played through.
“It doesn’t feel good right now, but honestly, I can’t tell you,” Mettenberger said last night. “We’ll see tomorrow with the MRI.”
Now the Titans are forced to turn back to Jake Locker, the former first-rounder who was benched earlier this year after his own injury issues made him unreliable, and forced them to turn to the sixth-round pick.
The Titans are tied with the Raiders, Jaguars, Jets and Buccaneers at 2-11, but the Bucs would pick first and the Titans second based on current standings, since ties are broken by strength of schedule.
