The Minnesota Vikings placed reserve linebacker Michael Mauti on injured reserve on Wednesday after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.

Mauti appeared in nine games for the Vikings this season while playing primarily on special teams. Mauti recorded just four tackles this season for Minnesota.

The Vikings signed tackle Carter Bykowski off the San Francisco 49ers practice squad to take Mauti’s place on the roster.

Bykowski was a seventh-round pick of the 49ers out of Iowa State in 2013. He has spent the last two seasons on the 49ers practice squad. Bykowski grew up in Eden Prairie, Minn., which is the where the Vikings practice facility in located.
