Luke Tasker gets tryout with the Packers

The son of former Bills standout Steve Tasker continues to pursue an unlikely NFL dream.

As noted earlier tonight on the PFT Twitter account, Luke Tasker had a Tuesday workout with the Packers.

The former Cornell wideout spent the 2013 offseason and preseason with the Chargers, signed as an undrafted free agent.  After being waived, Tasker joined the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats.  He has spent the last two years with the Tiger-Cats, which have made it to the last two Grey Cups, losing both.

In 2014, Tasker caught 72 passes for 937 yards and five touchdowns.  His dad’s team, the Bills, just beat the Packers in Buffalo, putting a major dent in Green Bay’s quest for the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.

The dent will be fixed if Green Bay and Detroit both win this upcoming weekend and Green Bay crushes Detroit at Lambeau Field.

lets see..replacing Boykin as the 4th WR…not likely…Janis and Abbrederis have more going for them in my mind…..who knows, if I were TT I’d be looking for an ILB

On Monday it was an unlikely dream. On Tuesday it became a chance reality.

    Luke is not so hot.

Well I honestly had high hopes for Boykin this year and he has absolutely been one of the biggest disappointments on my book. He made plays last year and showed some ability to go up and make a catch with his big frame and do something with it after he gets to the ground. This season he has 3 catches for 23 yards. I have seen him drop more passes this season than anyone on the Packers roster and possibly more than everyone combined. I think they should bump Janis up and try this kid out in some 5 receiver sets. That’s one thing I have yet to see all season even though we have some of the weapons needed.

I guess losing Championships runs in the family. That’s 0-6 between father and son. Oh and no way in hell does Steve Tasker belong anywhere near the Hall of Fame! He has said so himself.

As both a CFL & NFL fan, this kid doesn’t have a hope making it south of the border. Not quick enough. Feel sorry for the family when it comes to championship games. Steve was o-4 in Super Bowls and Luke is 0-2 in Grey Cups. Best of luck to him, but I think he will have a tough time making the team.

his dad should be in the HOF, most underrated player in last 30 years in NFL!!! if he is like his dad its not his body its his mind and guts that made him dominate, good luck

My brother-in-law was the minister at Luke’s wedding in July and has followed his career. He went to a game and said Tasker played very well. I wouldn’t mind seeing him get a shot with the Bills if the opportunity presents itself.

Nice story…and not surprising if he lands with the Packers, the ‘golden touch’

Who the hell are you to say whether it’s “unlikely” or not…ever heard of Fred Jackson, or many of the other solid players who have caught on later in their careers?

You’re son’s football playing career is pretty unlikely too…at least Tasker’s made it to college. 😉

I was at Tasker’s final game of his career, which occurred at Lambeau. He got ejected for arguing a call in the first quarter. Good memories.

It is awesome that he even was able to step on to an NFL field, let alone go through a full preseason… Many college football players just don’t have what it takes to stick around on an NFL team. For his Dad’s sake I hope he catches on somewhere… Steve loved playing football and loved playing for the Bills… How cool would it be to say you and your son both played in the NFL!

Seeing how his father got ejected from his last NFL game, coinsidentally at Green Bay, for inadvertent contact with an official, it would be fitting if his son played there.
