The Chargers can make the playoffs with a victory against the Chiefs in Week 17, but they’ll have to adapt to at least one new face on the offensive line to pull it off.

San Diego announced that starting right guard Johnnie Troutman has been placed on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury in last Saturday’s overtime win over the 49ers. The Chargers have had injury issues at center all year, but Troutman will be the first of the other four offensive linemen to miss a game this season.

Speaking of center injuries, the Chargers may find themselves in the market for their fifth starter at the position this season. Chris Watt hurt his ankle during the 49ers win and could miss Week 17 as a result. Trevor Robinson would be the next man up in the long line of next men up at center for the team.

Jeremiah Sirles made his NFL debut as Troutman’s replacement and is in line for his first NFL start this week. The Chargers also promoted offensive lineman Kenny Wiggins from the practice squad.
