Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers might not have been on the field for the early portion of Packers practice open to the media on Thursday, but that doesn’t appear to be a reason to worry about the status of his injured calf.
After practice concluded, coach Mike McCarthy said that Rodgers took 50-60 percent of the snaps during the team portion of practice. The coach said that “hit the target” for the work they wanted to see from him.
“Aaron practiced in the team periods. He looked good,” McCarthy said, via the team’s website. “He went down and did everything we asked him to do today. It’s always a better practice when he’s out there.”
Rodgers’s work in practice came shortly after Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Rodgers’s calf has a “slight tear” in addition to a significant strain. There’s nothing about that report that changes the outlook for Rodgers on Sunday as he’s already said that he’s playing and needs to find out where his limitations will be on Sunday.
We don’t expect that anyone from the Packers will share information about those limitations, but Thursday’s practice likely left them with a better idea of what they’re dealing with.
