Scot McCloughan officially introduced as Washington’s new G.M.

There’s finally, officially, a new general manager in Washington.

Scot McCloughan has been formally introduced as the team’s new G.M. after two days of reports that he and the team were close to an agreement.

McCloughan has spent 20 years as a scout or team executive with the Packers, Seahawks and 49ers.

He’ll have a big task ahead of him: Washington is coming off a 4-12 season and does not have a particularly talent-laden roster. Up first will be determining what to do at the quarterback position after playing musical chairs with Robert Griffin III, Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy last season did not produce good results.

In fact, not much of anything in Washington has produced good results on the field lately. McCloughan’s job is to change that.

Lolz he must be getting paid a huge increase compared to his former salary to go from 3 of the better franchises to one of the 2 or 3 absolute worst.

    Good luck with that.

FINALLY A STEP INTHE RIGHT DIRECTION

Maybe we can be a normal team now.

    Outstanding news!

Very exciting news. I’m hoping for a very active yet boring free agency and draft

This the second announcement today of hiring a first-timer at the GM position.

There was Ryan Pace for the Bears and now Scot McCloughan for the Redskins Redskins Redskins.

These young guys may produce better results for todays’ game than the same “older” guys who are recycled from team to team.

Scot McCloughan was a GM for 49ers for a few years, I believe 2008-2010. Not a first time GM but a great hire.

It’s hard for me to understand Redskins fans excitement over an unknown name, but if I were a Redskins fan I would be pumped up about ANY change. Don’t get too excited in DC, you still have a loser for an owner that can’t let go…

Now that that’s done let’s go get a drink.

Great news for the Washington REDSKINS

Wont matter how great the gm or coach or unless Dan Snyder can keep out of football decisions.

Draft Offensive linemen, cut Cousins, keep McCoy as a backup and ride RG3 until the wheels fall off.

    good luck, not really

Now at least we look like a normal organization structurally. Really surprised Snyder didn’t draft a punter first, then hired all the coordinators, then got a coach and finally hired a buddy to write the contracts – all in that order.

I guess it only takes 16 years to learn how to be an NFL owner.

He’s not exactly an unknown name – 49ers and Seahawks fans alike both attribute their rather stacked rosters to his keen eye for talent. Agree with you that DC has a ways to go, but this is most likely a good start if McC can lay off the sauce…

Good hire. Now if dan snyder keeps his hands out of the football operations.

    Best hire since Gibbs.

Scott has been money every where he has gone. If he can keep his demons at bay and if Snyder stays out of his way the Hogs should be talent laden in about 3 years

This is what happens when non-football fans post opinions. This man has been said to have created three SB teams full of talent, now he just needs to keep his hands off that bottle and we’ll be back in business! I looked back on our previous 10+ drafts, and I’m 200% sure I could have drafted better!

Taking our off the field success onto the field.

Great hire DC! I was bummed when he left Seattle, but happy his good friend John (Seattle’s GM) fired him out of love so Scot could get his life in order. If Snyder and Allen are able to let Scot and Gruden do their jobs, this should be a good sign for the Skins.

great hire because unlike the other GMs, he doesn’t come off as 1) a yes man for the head coach or 2) a yes man for the owner and if that’s all true and he does his job and is allowed to do his job, then the team could improve.

Easily one of the best moves the REDSKINS have made in a while. Been telling a friend of mine who is a REDSKINS fan how much he will like Scotty Mac. As a 49ers fan, I hated to see him leave a few years back. He had a really good eye for talent. Unfortunately, the 49ers didn’t have the coaches at the time capable of getting the most out of it. Hopefully, his personal demons are behind him, and he can have a fresh start to life in Washington and breathe new life into the REDSKINS franchise. REDSKINS.

After many years battling Alcoholism,Scot McCloughan makes it back to the league. I wish, this very talented personnel guy much luck.
However if anyone can cause a relapse it’s Dan Snyder;he could drive anyone to drink!

I think he will do a good job for the Redskins. I was afraid the Oakland team was going to snatch him up first though.
