Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak is reportedly very much on the radar of a club with a head coaching vacancy.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bears are “prepared to make a major push” for Kubiak.

The 53-year-old Kubiak was 63-66 as the Texans’ head coach from 2006 through 2013, leading the franchise to its first two postseason appearances.

The question now is whether the Bears’ interest in Kubiak has any bearing on whether they believe they can jump-start the career of quarterback Jay Cutler, who was benched late in the 2014 regular season. Of note: Kubiak worked under Mike Shanahan in Denver; Cutler’s first three NFL seasons were with Shanahan.

Kubiak’s candidacy in Chicago could also have ramifications for Kyle Shanahan, who had a stint as Houston’s offensive coordinator under Kubiak.
