APWell, that escalated quickly.
According to Vic Lombardi of CBS 4 in Denver, the “mutual parting” between the Broncos and coach John Fox has been chased by the release of the entire coaching staff.
It was believed that defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio was in trouble. Instead, everyone is gone.
That includes offensive coordinator Adam Gase, who currently is under consideration for multiple head-coaching jobs elsewhere. So if the Broncos, who know Gase better than anyone, have just fired him, why would anyone else hire him to be the head coach?
For quarterback Peyton Manning, the development points to an inevitable mutual parting, too. Peyton despises change and craves continuity. Unless he has a hand-picked alternative to Fox and Gase whom the Broncos will hire, it’s hard to imagine Peyton wanting to return.
UPDATE 6:10 p.m. ET: Per multiple other reports, all assistant coaches are under contract but free to look elsewhere. Which is a nice way of saying, “Pack up and hit the road.”
I’m sure Gary Kubiak’s already on a flight to Denver.
Sounds like Elway figured out what they peddle at the Denver dispensaries.
Pretty clear, Peyton has told them he is retiring. Cleaning house, and next will be players with huge contracts.
Wow, it’s all over in Denver.
Pats have a few years left ruling with Brady (despise him and Hoody*Cheat, but give them credit).
Next up is Rivers in 1-2 years in San Diego.
Raiders may actually build a contender if they get a real coach, for once in 10 years.
Well looks like I was wrong about the Peyton Manning power move then. Rebuild time in Denver.
Dang Elway don’t play!!!
As a Chiefs fan, all I can say is Hallelujah!!! (primarily about the Manning speculation).
Payton will be the next coach.
Del Rio’s constant 4 man rush chased himself out of town more than it chased opposing QBs
Manning will retire and become the new coach.
If Peyton Manning continues playing, the Cardinals will be at the top of his list. He’s familiar with Bruce Arians and Tom Moore (assistant), and they were just a QB short of making a Super Bowl run this year. Their defense was excellent.
Next head coach of the Denver Broncos will be…………..Peyton Manning!
John Fox to Chicago. And if Gase doesn’t get a head coaching job then he goes to Chicago with him. Bank on it!
Its all over Denver! Hope you bandwagon fans enjoyed the ride after selling your soul to try and win a championship and then crapping the bed for the last 3 years. You have officially become irrelevant again just like the Niners
Even if this was the grand master plan of Peyton Manning, will it even matter if they bring in the right people he likes? He’s getting old and for half the season he looked like Brett Favre did in his final season with Minnesota, minus the texting.
You could see Favre was done, he could still make the passes but he was a changed man. Peyton looked like that on Sunday, father time has the ball now and if Peyton doesn’t stop it will turn into the Super Bowl last year for him. Father time never loses.
Peyton takes a few years off but I hope he coaches.
Or at least boadcaster. Guy has some stories to tell.
wow that came rather quickly. broncos should look to post manning’s era.
no disrespect to the guy, but he’s had a nice hall-of-fame career. best of luck!
Right…because it’s the coaching staff’s fault that Manning was injured/innefective. It’s the coaches fault that their stud pass rushers couldn’t win one-on-one battles.
The offense fell off considerably due to injuries but the guys that are getting paid on the Defensive side of the ball just didn’t make plays when they needed to. That ain’t the coaches fault.
Wow… Elway pretty much told them you dont have to go home, but you cant stay here!
I guess the tides will turn next year in the AFC West.
I’ll bet dollars to donuts that Elway sings a head coach before Woody Johnson.
Is this what happens when a team loses to the Colts in the playoffs?
I’m a Colts’ fan. I feel like I should be offended…
Wow. New regime is coming to town.
Elway aint playing!!!! Yeah i agree Manning must had announced he’s done as QB!!! Rebuild mode is now in session!
Better to cut ties with everybody a year too early then a year too late.
Elway put the money where it needed to go (defensive signings plus Emmanuel Sanders) and it didn’t work out for us.
Proud to have an organization that doesn’t tolerate failure.
This is shocking! Elway is blowing it all up! I thought maybe Elway wanted to let Fox go because their relationship was fraying and he could promote Gase to HC. In turn that may have enticed Manning to return. But the entire staff? Say what you will about Manning but with two bad quads and a noodle arm, he is still better then any other option Denver has and that includes Brock Osweiller!

Payton will be the next coach.
——————-
He’s still under contract with the Saints. Not likely.
As a Chiefs Fan, I think they should hire either Todd Haley or Romeo Crennell. They did a Great job for my Chiefs, NOT.
I can think of only a few available coaches you would throw your entire staff away for if you think you have the QB to lure them away from an easier gig….
John Gruden, Bill Cowher, or Tony Dungy
Rivers isn’t retiring that soon and Telesco is going to do everything he can to keep him. I think rivers gets an extension and retires a charger in like 4-5 years. If manning is done in Denver, the afc west title is up for grabs
Maybe Elway is going to pull a Jerrah and name himself Mr. Everything.
Kubiak or Shanahan. Even money.
This changes everything. Wow! Adam Gase and Jack Del Rio’s hopes of an NFL coaching job possibly just got flushed down the toilet. Mike Shanahan could be getting a phone call very shortly. And Jay Cutler could be on his way back to Denver as well.
Elway should be gone too. He spent all the money on all the wrong people.
Shanahan return to Denver?
Cleaning house comes as NO surprise to me. The talent that is on the Broncos roster underachieved this season. Play calling on both sides of the ball have been suspect.
The zone D was exposed again last night vs. Indy. Why did Denver wait until midway thru the season to see that Peyton Manning couldn’t carry the team alone and develop a ground game? Very disappointing one and done again.
Parcells was seen in Denver today.

People joking about Denver’s all in strategy and Peyton Manning. If your team was not one of the final 8 of this year’s playoffs (maybe include New Orleans also since they have Brees), I would bet my house that you’ll be a fan of the Broncos’ 3 year plan with Peyton.
I’m a Redskins fan and I realize that I will never see 3 years of 12-13 wins seasons while Dan Snyder is around.
Elway must have somebody waiting in the wings. Kubiak?
Why was Gase ever considered a hot-commodity coach? All he did was win the “Peyton Manning Lottery.” Everyone knows Peyton runs the offense; the offensive coordinator is nothing more than a title holder.
If GM Elway was looking to sully his legacy, he succeeded.
Guarantee Elway knows who he wants, and he will probably get him. Even if Manning is done, the roster is way more talented than that of any other team looking for a coach. The question is who is going to be the QB?
Sweet. Now if the Chargers can just get some health and consistency at O-line and get some pass rush, we’ll be right back on top of the AFC West.
Rivers has a solid 4-5 years ahead of him. The window is OPEN.
Other than Fox leaving some of these other reports could be just rumors. Gase still could end of being the new Bronco Head coach with Peyton staying. Stay tuned.
Best chance for Manning to win another Super Bowl is to move back to Indy and back up Luck for a couple years. Retire a Colt then be the new GM and build a great team for many years.
That noise you hear is the stampede of Broncos bandwagonners jumping off. “America’s favorite team” just lost 2/3 of its fans HA HA
Manning is done. Stick a fork in him.
He couldn’t win playoff games and now he’s too old and immobile to play at a high level anymore.
And the Broncos need to start clearing our the roster so they may have some cap room for rebuilding.
Winning Super Bowls was a lot easier for the Broncos when they were cheating the salary cap.
That was yesterday. Today is today.

Time for Kubiak to come home, see what he can do with Osweiler, who got to learn under Peyton F Manning for 3 years…
Rodgers sat under Favre for 3 years, I’d say Manning is an upgrade over Favre, as far as being a mentor of the game…
Peyton to coach this team. You heard it here 1st, wait 2nd, no wait, never mind.
Reverse the curse. Bring back Tebow !
The return of Wade Phillips in 2015.
Sorry… but well deserved ‘parting of the ways’.
TOTALLY underwhelming coaching job during his tenure… and I said it when he was hired. Fox is good at not messing up a good thing… but can’t fix anything that is going bad. He’s almost as much of a spectator as we are.
The total evisceration in the Super Bowl showed just how insufficient the entire group is, when up against true NFL Coaching talent.
The horrible plan and effort yesterday reconfirmed it.
Raider domination coming to an NFL stadium near you
Elway’s ego is even bigger than his teeth. Welcome to mediocrity
I don’t see Peyton going out losing against the Colts. I think losing to the Colts in his last game would burn him up for the rest of his life!
As Browns fans we can only dream of cleaning house after making the playoffs four straight years….
There are a lot of good coaches out there looking for jobs, and the list just got longer. I thought the Broncos had a great staff, but Elway knows more about football than I do. It will be interesting to see who they hire.
Holy cow! Reminds me of what happened to Marty Schottenheimer in San Diego after he took the Chargers to a 14-2 season. And we all know how things went for the Chargers after he left.
If Manning retires the Broncos will have 56 million or so to spend if needed. The defense is in pretty good condition. The offense needs linemen and plenty of them. They won’t release any high dollar guys cause they plan on winning sooner than later. Brock could surprise people since he does have an arm. They aren’t rebuilding they are reloading.
Elway has some “innovative” theory he wants to implement – starting from scratch with some new approach. I doubt it involves Josh McDaniels.

That qb was on the team you know. He just happened to be on the IR. Now way this team dumps Carson Palmer, plus draft picks, for 1 year of Manning(which comes with salary cap hell). If I was the Broncos I would take that trade in a heart beat. Won’t happen.

He’ll definitely surprise some people – most likely, the ones who expect him to be much better than Ryan Lindley.
I thing Peyton will be the coach next year.
Old Shanahan returns brings Cutler with him to reform the Old Band!
Looks like the Broncos dominance of the AFC West is over.
Broncos AFC West run: 2011-2014
It looks like the AFC West will go through Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers if Peyton Manning retires.
The 7-9 (Insert Team) 2015 AFC West Champion.
Going into the playoffs I THINK they were a top 5 offensive and defensive team. That escalated quickly..
Fox was due to get fired when he was losing with Kyle Orten…then Tebow came in and saved his job. Fox and Elway repaid him by shipping him off to the wastelands of J-E-T-S where they club QB’s like baby seals.
Hope Fox realizes the loyalty he showed is the loyalty he got.
Can’t wait for Elway to fail and get run out of town.
wow. i think that is the last time we see peyton manning play.
You fire somebody because you think you can do better with somebody else.
Does anyone really believe that, other than getting rid of Del Rio, there are better people out there for these positions?
Good choice, Wes.
Playoff losses after division titles doomed the Bronco coaches. An upset loss to the Colts was the last straw. Does Elway go with an up and coming NFL defensive coordinator or offensive coordinator? Or, does he go for a former NFL head coach? I don’t think he will tab a college head coach. Not sure he wants Kubiak even though he has fine credentials. I’m sure that the Broncos will act quickly since they dismissed their coaches so quickly after the loss to the Colts. John Elway is decisive if nothing else.
I’d sit Nick Foles for a year or two to get Peyton in Philly!
Holy hell! Elway is cleaning House!
Three steps back, one forward I guess.

You should be offended about your team’s tanking that season to make sure they got Luck.
Tebow….Tebow…Tebow!!
Tebow…Tebow…Tebow! If John Elway was a halfway competent leader, he’d have his team in the Superbowl by now. Elway is the one who needs to go. Pompous fool.
time for shanahan to come home.
Denver transplant here, seems to me Broncos nation is blinded by their love of Elway. They are incapable of holding him accountable, he is royalty. In my opinion he is not a good GM. Never mind Tim Tebow, it seems to me this thing went south when they bungled the Elvis Dummerville contract. I think that was also the same year half the front office was in the drunk tank. From the outside looking in, Elway is poor GM and would do the organization a favor by stepping down. If it were anyone other than Elway would he still absolved of criticism?
youreallmorons ..you too.
Now jack del rio is all set to go screw up the Raiders if that is actually possible. Didn’t he coach there once already? Not sure. He was head coach somewhere and it didn’t work
youreallmorons
Everyone is a bandwagon fan. Sing a new song skippy.
John Elway could hire Mike Shanahan back and don’t be surprised if he trades for Jay Cutler & Brandon Marshall for a reunion.
Emmanual sanders is probably thinking what the hell is going on I just signed to play here a year ago and now everything is going crazy we lose a playoff game and the coach is fired other coaches are going to other teams possibly what did i sign on to? get me out of here this is a mess i didn’t come here to help with a rebuild i came here of promises of a super bowl now and that looks like it may be years away if at all now..
Maybe things would be different if he had a winning record. Oh…

****************************************************************************************************************
Yea, I heard that before, EXCEPT Jim Caldwell who was Peyton’s QB Coach/Asst.HC went to BMOre and “relieved” Cam Cameron of his duties and “coached” Flacco to a Lombardi and a huge Payday!!! Then goes to Detroit and “coached” Matt Stafford to the most wins in a season in his career! Mere Coincidence? I think not!!!Lol
Abattoir, Peyton is not going to the Cardinals or any other NFC team.
The Manning Brothers have always refused to play in the same conference together. Eli (and his dad) forced his way out of San Diego on draft day, Peyton passed over the Cardinals and other NFC teams prior to signing with the Broncos three years ago.
The Manning’s have always maintained that if they play each other in the postseason, it will be in a Super Bowl. Not some divisional or conference championship.
Next I hope the Colts beat the Pats and they fire their coach and the fans all say Brady is done!
And the next coach of the Denver Broncos will be Norv Turner! LOL
I wonder if Elway is burning a little more just cause its the Colts? After all he did refuse to play for them. Maybe he was old man Irsays ball boy.
Hmmm… Buffalo needs a QB.
So the overpaid QB who can’t throw a spiral gets off scott free? Wow.
I personally love seeing that arrogant Elway fail.
If Manning wants to give it another try and he needs a new team, then none better than the Cardinals. They are truly a legit QB away from being SB contenders. But I highly doubt it will happen and he retires.
Laughing at all the comments about how the Broncos are now rebuilding. With Manning retiring, that leaves a lot of cap space available (he would be making $19mil for next season). The Broncos would just need to resign DT and maybe tag JT and they would still have pretty much everyone else on the roster. Did everyone forget that this is the same Broncos team that made it to the playoffs with Timmy Tebow at QB and won a playoff game against Pittsburgh?
Say what you will about the Patriots organization whether you like them or not. But to see so many flashes in the pan, flavors of the season- year after year speaks volumes to the Impressiveness of the Patriots longevity.
The patriots have blown up rosters and rebuilt teams many times, aside from BB&TB. This team now is almost completely turned over from the one that was in the superbowl in the 11 season. Which was completely different from the 07 team.. I’d say that’s pretty remarkable!!
Turn out the lights, the Donkeys hopes are over.
I think Peyton needs to SERIOUSLY and I mean VERY seriously consider hanging it up. He is a sure fire Hall of Fame QB, but his arm is apparently going.
If he could have placed half of those deep throws on target, we wouldn’t be having this discussion. He couldn’t and cost the staff their jobs.
Between last year’s Super Bowl and now this year’s playoff game, it becomes painfully obvious that he no longer has it.
Sorry Peyton. It’s been a great ride but it’s time to get off now. Real life is calling you. You ned to answer the call.
Mr. Ed cleaning house.
Putting the band back together….Shanahan, Cutler and Marshall gearing up for the reunion tour. LOL!!!
Broncos got a long rebuild ahead of them. Meanwhile the Raiders have a franchise QB, franchise MLB, cap space, a high draft pick, and cap room.
I’m not a Raiders fan, but their future is brighter, even if it’s in San Antonio.
The Elway article in SI last week was timely and explains why he would make this kind of decision.
Wow! Elway isn’t….wait for it…..HORSING around!
and Shooter McGavin shouldn’t be working in the NFL in the first place.
I got a $1 that says Elway will be phoning Brady after he wins the SB and begging him to come to Denver to play out his senior years.
Elways list of failures.
SB 1986 – 39-20 to the Giants
SB 1987 – 42-10 to the Redskins
SB 1989 – 55-10 to the 49ers
SB 2014 – disaster
Broncos ’10-’14 – banked everything on ONE player. Now Broncos will pay for years.
Mueller Capital Management – Multi-million $ loss in a Ponzi scheme.
Auto Nation – sold his auto dealerships for stock which went from $44 to $6
Laundromax – with Shanahan as his partner, millions lost.
MVP.com – $10 million loss.
Quepasa.com – another bust
Arena football – Colorado Crush, another bust.
Elway does have one thing going for him. He’s great at blaming the other guy and everyone (still) believes him.
This is no surprise. I think Elway wants to see what Osweiller can do, so Manning is probably gone. I don’t see him retreading a pro coach…if he can convince the right college coach to come in. This is going to be a major rebuild with an eye on next year’s (2016) draft. If BO can’t hack it–and there’s little to believe he can–the Broncos will be in a position to draft a franchise quarterback, based on a mediocre record and a few pieces necessary to trade further up.
