Rick Wagner expected to miss majority of Ravens offseason work

The Ravens got a strong season from right tackle Rick Wagner in 2014, but they weren’t able to rely on him in the playoffs because a December Lisfranc foot injury put him on injured reserve.

Wagner had surgery on the foot before the start of the new year and is starting to formulate a timetable for his return to the field. Wagner is expected to miss most, if not all, of the team’s offseason work and his absence could stretch into the summer as being ready for the first week of the regular season is Wagner’s goal.

“I should come back for next season. That’s the goal to get back for the first game,” Wagner said, via the Baltimore Sun. “It’s the kind of injury [where] you have to take it slow. It’s not a career-changer. It just needs time to heal.”

If Wagner is healthy and left tackle Eugene Monroe returns to form, the offensive line should be a strength for the Ravens come 2015. With offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak looking like he’ll be back, that bodes well for a continuation of this season’s offensive performance.
