John Fox has made his first move as the head coach of the Bears, but it’s unclear if it will get him anywhere.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Bears have asked permission to interview Titans tight ends coach Mike Mularkey for their vacant offensive coordinator job.

Of course, the Titans refused permission when the Buccaneers asked, so it’s not a sure thing he’ll interview.

Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt is developing a bit of a reputation for not letting his own guys leave. In addition to not letting Mularkey interview with the Bucs this year, he also blocked receivers coach John McNulty from a chance to interview to be Greg Schiano’s offensive coordinator in 2012 when he was coaching the Cardinals.

Then again, maybe he just hates Tampa Bay.
