We’ll have to wait until Sunday to find out whether tailback Trent Richardson returns to the Colts’ active roster.

Head coach Chuck Pagano said Richardson’s status for the AFC title game at New England will be a day-of-game decision.

“Trent’s working,” Pagano said Friday, according to a press conference transcript from the NFL. “Trent’s doing everything that he’s supposed to do and it’ll be a game-time decision.”

Richardson was inactive for the Colts’ divisional playoff win at Denver, with Daniel Herron getting the vast majority of snaps at tailback. Reserves Zurlon Tipton and Michael Hill were also active, with each playing the majority of the Colts’ special teams snaps. Tipton also played seven offensive snaps.

Herron, Tipton and Hill were not on the injury report this week, so if Richardson is to be active, the decision to play him will be strategy-driven, not because of an ailment.
