Falcons to interview Dan Quinn again as soon as Monday

Quinn

With five coaching vacancies filled and a sixth one pegged for Gary Kubiak, one remains open: The Falcons.

It may not be open for long. If the Packers upset the Seahawks on Sunday, Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn could have the job by the middle of the week. Even if the Seahawks win, the Falcons will be permitted to interview Quinn for a second time in the looming Super Bowl bye week. That interview is expected to happen as soon as Monday.

While league rules would prohibit the Falcons from offering the job or Quinn from accepting it until after Seattle’s season ends, plenty of winking and nodding can and likely will occur during the second interview, with a non-binding understanding emerging.

Quinn’s strongest interest came from the Jets and Falcons. His name emerged as a potential candidate in Denver, but because the Broncos didn’t interview him during the original playoff bye week (since they didn’t have an opening at the time), the Broncos would have to wait until after the Super Bowl to talk to him at all.
