Colts quarterback Andrew Luck became the first overall pick for the second time in his career on Wednesday when he was the first player taken off the board in the Pro Bowl draft.

Luck wouldn’t be playing in the game if the Colts had won the AFC title last Sunday, but they lost 45-7 to the Patriots in a game that’s forever going to be linked to the Patriots using under-inflated footballs. Even Luck’s answer to reporters about how he feels after the loss made reference to the biggest NFL story of the week.

“The energy is sort of sucked out of you, you do feel deflated,” Luck said, via ESPNBoston.com.

Luck got some laughs for that response and then was predictably asked about his thoughts on the possible use of deflated balls in the game. Luck did his best to evade the questions like an oncoming linebacker by complimenting the Patriots.

“I don’t know. Things in the media tend to be blown out of proportion a little bit,” Luck said. “It’s the nature in where we are today in society. You can’t take anything away from them being a heck of a team and they are a good football team.”

There have certainly been a wide range of reactions in and out of the media to the allegations leveled against the Patriots, few of which have cast doubt on the Patriots’ ability on the football field and few of which have explained why being a good football team would be a defense against breaking the rules of the game.
