Texans announce several coaching staff changes

Bill O’Brien

AP

The Texans announced some changes Tuesday to Bill O’Brien’s coaching staff ahead of his second season in Houston.

A couple of those announcements were of moves that have been previously reported as the Texans confirmed that Paul Pasqualoni will be their defensive line coach and that Mike Devlin will oversee the offensive line. Those veteran coaches will be joined on the staff by three men with a bit less experience on NFL sidelines.

Anthony Pleasant will move from assistant strength and conditioning coach to defensive assistant in his second year with the club. Pleasant played 14 years in the NFL and served as Kansas City’s defensive line coach from 2010-2012 when current Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel was the defensive coordinator and head coach of the Chiefs.

The Texans also named former Arena League player and head coach Pat O’Hara as an offensive assistant. O’Hara has also worked as a technical advisor for several movies like the remake of The Longest Yard and has appeared in others like The Waterboy, so Adam Sandler could work his way into the mix for a spot on the Texans roster next year.

Brian Bell, who worked at Penn State while O’Brien was the head coach, was named assistant strength and conditioning coach.
