The Rams have said they want quarterback Sam Bradford back this year, even if he’s competing for his job.

They just want him back and competing for less.

According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Rams want to restructure the final year of Bradford’s rookie deal.

He’s scheduled to make $12.985 million in the final year of his rookie deal, and as he’s coming off two years of torn ACLs, that’s more than they want to pay.

The tricky part will be in finding a way to restructure that Bradford’s open to. Turning part of that base salary into incentives he could earn back seems logical, but the devil will be in the details, and will also give an indication of how confident they are that he’s in their future plans.
