The Jets are taking a flier on a former third-round draft pick.
New York has signed ex-Steelers cornerback Curtis Brown, the No. 95 overall selection in 2011. The team announced the transaction Tuesday afternoon.
The 26-year-old Brown appeared in 34 regular season games with Pittsburgh from 2011 through 2013, notching 49 tackles. He suffered an ACL tear in November 2013 and was waived by Pittsburgh in March 2014. Brown (6-0, 185) was not in the NFL last season.
The Jets’ cornerback play was a weakness a season ago. Two corners — Darrin Walls and Kyle Wilson — are slated to be unrestricted free agents.
