Eagles safety Nate Allen detained by Fort Myers police

Nate Allen

Soon-to-be free agent Nate Allen has been detained by police in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Fort Myers Police Department released a statement Monday night saying that they were investigating an incident involving Allen, but didn’t provide details of the event. According to Eliot Shorr-Parks of the Newark Star-Ledger, police say the investigation remains ongoing.

The incident was first reported by Barry Miller of FOX 4 News in Cape Coral, Fla.

Allen has spent all five years of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles and is set to become an unrestricted free agent on March 10. Allen had 62 tackles and a career-high four interceptions for the Eagles last season.

UPDATE 6:38 a.m. ET: Allen was later released without being charged, reportedly due to concerns that the teenager who accused Allen of indecent exposure had changed her story.
