Getty ImagesIn 2013 and 2014, the Falcons used artificial crowd noise at the Georgia Dome; owner Arthur Blank essentially admitted it earlier this month. So now the question become what the penalty will be.
Appearing on Thursday’s edition of PFT Live on NBC Sports Radio, Falcons G.M. Thomas Dimitroff said that the team expects to learn its fate soon.
While he declined to divulge details regarding whether it was the result of a rogue employee or a collaboration, Dimitroff reiterated that the situation did not occur at the behest or with knowledge of football operations. It’s a stadium operations issue, and that’s not something the G.M. or coach handle.
But the G.M. and coach may have to deal with the consequences, especially if the team loses one or more draft picks because of the situation. Don’t be shocked if it’s a significant penalty; fake crowd noise directly interferes with the ability of the opponent to run its offense. As cheating goes, that’s a fairly blatant violation, and a pretty big deal.
No respect for the game. Move the team and erase the Falcons from the books.
Opponents were probably asking themselves how three fans could make so much noise.

I understand why this doesn’t get the pub like Patriots stories but it should. This really is a big deal.
Take away their 1st round pick. It should be that simple. And swift !
Will never be as bad as what the Patriots have done. They have cheated for years and years. They have cheated since at least 2001…..Brady couldn’t or wouldn’t start on any other team in the NFL. Fact. He isn’t any better than Matt Cassell. Santa Claus could play QB on that team and they still win and cheat. They could play a homeless guy at LB and they still win.
According to local media the stadium folks did not stop the music at the required time of the play clock. I’m not sure but it’s something like the music has to stop during the last 30 seconds of play clock. They let it play to the 15-20 second mark thus the allegations of pipped in noise and cheating. As we can all see from their record the falcon should be stripped of those 2 seasons victories…..both of em.
The Vikings and Seahawks have done it for years too…..at least they don’t film walk throughs and deflate footballs, steal signals lie on injury reports, try to substitute and deceive the other team.
The Colts did the same exact thing a couple years back and nothing happened to them.
Meanwhile nothing’s happened to the Patriots for cheating much worse.
The Falcons are about to learn their fate, yet Brady still has not been questioned.
The NFL sucks, so does Goodell…hopefully the league ends up folding and Goodell is fired and replaced.
Big deal! The Vikings and the Saints have done this same thing for years, and the NFL hasn’t done squat to them!

I always wondered why teams didn’t just cut the power cords on those loud speakers behind their benches in the metrodome.

A lot of teams do this but yet Roger wants to make a example out of the falcons. If i was Arthur i would tell Roger that we pay up as soon as Rogers buddy Kraft does until then stick it where the sun don’t shine. If i recall, Arthur is one out of 32 bosses he has also Roger is way over paid. Players should revolt against Roger. Refuse to play as long as he is the commissioner. Roger your last Super Bowl is forever tainted. We the fans understand that you do nothing to the pats cause Kraft will reduce your pay

Jimthebuilder, you obviously have never been in the Superdome. The building is huge, and the fan noise cascades down to the field. No need to pipe in anything. The Metrodome had some of the loudest music in a domed stadium; even Vikings fans admit that…

Some minor personnel changes should a lot. Whoever was pumping the noise in should go to New England and pump the footballs, and whoever was deflating the balls in New England should go let some noise out in Atlanta. Then take both their number one draft picks and give them to Cleveland, who will probably draft two more QBs. Man, I crack myself up sometimes.

The NFL should have checked every team for this before blowing the whistle on he Falcons. The Seahawks were called for piping in loud music on 3rd downs in the Kingdome and were ordered to desist. Now in an OUTDOOR stadium, they are setting decibel level records for the amount of crowd noise. Suspicious ?

So the QB with the highest winning percentage in NFL history, the one with the most playoff wins in NFL history, the one who just became the first QB to ever lead their team back from a 10+ point deficit in the second half of a SB (against the No. 1 defense in the league), who is a 3x SB MVP, wouldn’t even start on another team? This is why nobody even bothers to make fun of Bills fans anymore, you guys do such a good job of it yourselves.

Pete Carroll second best coach? I don’t think so. His winning record says otherwise. He was put in about as fortunate a situation a coach can ask for. And that Seahawks defense is over-rated as far as calling it one of the best ever. That was the worst play call ever in a SB under the circumstances.
Is it just me, or does the Falcons GM look like he cares more about his hair and Harry Potter look than actually building a winning football team? Defense wins championships.
