Report: Chargers preparing to make a run at Suh

Suh

The Chargers and Raiders have partnered up, Walt and Jessie-style, to build a new stadium in Carson, California. In all other respects, they remain zealous competitors.

They now may be competing for a guy who currently plays for a team with home jerseys that match the color of the primary product of the proprietors of Vamonos Pest.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Chargers are “preparing to make a run” at defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Mike Silver of NFL Media previously reported that the Raiders are planning to bring Suh in for a visit once the free-agency period opens next week.

Since both teams are headquartered in California, either would have to pay a premium over the offer the Miami Dolphins plan to make, thanks to the dramatic differences in state income taxes. Which makes it unlikely that the Chargers will emerge with the prize.

It could be that the Chargers are simply trying to cajole the Raiders into overspending for Suh. Unless they’re planning to change their defense to a 4-3, they could have an Albert Haynesworth-style fit problem, if Suh accepts a spot on the Chargers.

Maybe it would be worth it to change defenses. With the Chargers possibly heading to Los Angeles, bringing along Suh could result in a much more compelling relocation. Especially if the other team that would be playing in the same stadium has designs on doing the same thing.

Whether it’s Oakland, San Diego, L.A., or Miami, Suh wouldn’t have to worry about his feet getting so cold during home games that he wouldn’t realize he was stepping on someone’s leg.
