49ers FB Bruce Miller arrested for spousal battery

Getty Images

It’s been a bad offseason for the 49ers.  It got a lot worse late Monday.

According to multiple reports, 49ers fullback Bruce Miller was arrested last Thursday in Santa Clara on charges of spousal abuse.

“The San Francisco 49ers organization is aware of the matter involving Bruce Miller,” the team said in a release, via Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com.  “We were disappointed to learn of these reports and will do our due diligence in collecting all relevant information.”

The NFL has increased dramatically its approach to allegations of domestic violence, via a new personal-conduct policy.  Miller ultimately could be placed on the Commissioner-Exempt list pending resolution of the case, with a potential suspension coming after the prosecution ends.

The 49ers acquired Miller in the seventh round of the 2011 draft.  He has appeared in all but three career regular-season games, with 42 career starts.

Well obviously Bruce didn’t watch any NFL games this year because if he was paying attention to the commericals he would’ve been cured of this habit.

  7. seahawksteven777 says: Mar 9, 2015 8:42 PM

The 49ers are aware of the incident but don’t care because they are interested in bringing in a guy like Hardy, who is guilty of domestic violence too.

Above approach still applies for them.

Well, he is gonna be suspended indefinitely if tru, so might as well prepare for life without him.49ers are having the worst off season I have ever seen! This team has imploded before our eyes! And the year hasnt even started! Somehow I feel Tomsula will take the blame for all this.

  25. murfdeezy says: Mar 9, 2015 8:56 PM

7th rounder and FB. That’s all you really need to know. He’s a grinder…not a star. This is the perfect guy for the NFL to pretend to make an example of. They get to pretend that they care and it cost them virtually nothing. It’s not like he is a star RB or an elite edge rusher. I bet he is gone. Never to be heard from again….kind of like Hardy’s accuser. Just saying.

  26. goldbloodedindfw says: Mar 9, 2015 8:56 PM

And what would be the one team who doesn’t after the last few days? Only other competition would be the Eagles and at least they have not had anyone arrested yet. Even the usual suspects such as the Jets and Browns have had a good offseason in comparison to the 49’ers.

  69. statlaw says: Mar 9, 2015 10:07 PM

Oh no. You have to suspend him – period! You NFL execs who know so much about human behavior, that you disregard anything other than media reports, must now suspend this guy (who I never even heard of). But hey; what does the NFL or its media coverage care. Clearly, the NFL and its media did not think for a moment about the consequences of their “new domestic violence” policy. They didn’t think about how non-NFL fans that could care less about the NFL or its players (but do care immensely about $$$$), might react to this new policy by threatening everything. The NFL should’ve left these matters to the courts – despite the media, who no longer – at least for me – represent the 4th estate.

  91. sweetnlow44 says: Mar 10, 2015 12:39 AM

Haha, 49er fans using this as a reason to bash the Seahawks. That’s hilarious. At least the Seahawks were in a position to blow the Superbowl in the last minute. Where were the 49ers? Oh, 8-8 and not even close to the playoffs? Hahahahaha!

Enjoy the implosion. Same thing happened last offseason and 49er fans tried to act like it wouldn’t impact them on the field. Well, going from losing the NFC championship game to being lucky to be at 8-8 proves you wrong and every fan of the other 31 teams right.

  92. corporatemediaprostitute says: Mar 10, 2015 12:39 AM

I’m a niner fan and today has been rough!!! But then I think about it and how could we possibly upstage Seattle?? At the half inch line Lynch In the backfield plenty of time on the clock.. Then boom!!! Interception game over and you have lost twice as many super Bowls as you have won!! Then as a niner fan I start to think today really was a bad day! But at least today we won’t be known for the dumbest play call in not only football history but super bowl history 😂😂😂😂
I used to hate Seattle but thanks Hawks you made today so much better!!
