LeSean McCoy: “It feels good to be appreciated”

AP

LeSean McCoy is officially a Buffalo Bill, and at his introductory press conference, he took a bit of a swipe at his former team by opening with the words, “It feels good to be here. It feels good to be appreciated.”

McCoy didn’t come right out and say that he felt that the Eagles and Chip Kelly didn’t appreciate him, but it sure came across like that. McCoy said he was surprised to find out the Eagles were trading him but is happy to be in Buffalo.

“The people here are so nice,” McCoy said. “I can’t wait to get to work. I can’t wait to see my teammates, work hard and get that goal, and that’s to get a championship.”

McCoy said the Eagles gave him no indication that they were thinking about getting rid of him, and he wishes they would have given him a heads-up.

“I was disappointed just because I didn’t know what was going on,” McCoy said. “I knew I had a big cap hit, so I knew there would be some conversations to try to fix the contract, but other than that I didn’t know anything.”

Now, McCoy says, “It’s a blessing” to be in Buffalo. He’ll be a happy camper, where he knows he’s wanted.

  1. The city, team, and fans appreciated him his entire time here. What a joke these players are. Always finding the need to ignore everything else and play victim.

Enjoy over paying for a RB who needs a perfect Oline to do anything.

  2. Not gonna last in Rexs offense. He isn’t a smash mouth running back. He’s a more sideline to sideline back.

  3. Very much looking forward to seeing Shady play in Buffalo. He certainly seems to be loved by Eagles fans and Bills fans certainly know how to show love to our players. Just hope he’s worth it!

  4. yeah ok…it’s the honeymoon period. season hasn’t started yet. mccoy isn’t playing in bitter buff winter yet. he hasn’t experienced buffalo nightlife yet.

wait til buff fans watch him prance, avoid contact, go right down, hold the ball like a loaf of bread and fumble. yes he will be appreciated all right…

  5. Be happy Shady….no more cramming nasty smoothies down your throat or the Philly village idiot calling you friend DJAX a gangster and cutting him while signing calendar boy ” Mister Febuary ” Cooper to a multi year deal.

  6. I’d be glad I was traded to, as no other RB in the league had greater production receiving and running. Yet when it came time to actually paying the man Philly threw egg in his face!!!

    Good for Buffalo “appreciating” TALENT!!!

  7. Funny how he says how he loves it there when after the trade he was apparently furious at going to the Bills. I guess getting an overpaid contract will change your tune.

  8. I think he just means that Buffalo fans treat the players well. And I have no problem with that.

  9. Why do these guys (Jackson and McCoy) take it so personally? Like Chip has something personally against them…..quit whining and collect your millions, do you job and Shut up!

  10. McCoy isn’t the only one, I wonder if Stephen A. was on to something so Kelly was like “ooooh crap I better trade a white guy”

This isn’t like college where you can stack the deck in your favor, in recruiting. The good news for the Eagles is there is no hands down favorite in the NFC East, any of those teams could win between 6-10 games except the Redskins and I wouldn’t be surprised at all.

  11. If the Bills can get someone competent under center they’re going to surprise some teams. There’s a lot of talent being amassed there in Western New York.

  12. @bobonmycob ironic how you tell mccoy to grow up by leaving one of the most childish comments ever posted on this website.

He played his heart out for philly and said he undstertood the cap situation. All he is saying is that he wished he had gotten a heads up. Not saying he should have had it but it isn’t unreasonable to be frustrated he didn’t get it either. Being blindsided like that when your dedicated to your team and city can’t be fun.

  13. Myself and the other millions of fans wearing his jersey sure are glad he feels appreciated by people he has never met…as opposed to those who have cheered him from day one. I went from depressed about his being traded to disgusted by my favorite player.

  14. McCoy shot his mouth off too much. He was getting paid, they were winning but he had to start questioning his head coach publicly.

He will learn a lesson in Buffalo. The money will be good but the hits from those tackles hurt a little bit more when your losing every Sunday.

We’ll see how happy that extra money keeps you after your in week # 14 with a 4-9 record.

  15. Welcome Shady to the city of buffalo wings and tradition. I gotta feel for Philly fans losing their four top offensive players from the previous two seasons. Good luck Kiko build the legend!

  16. Well Jerry Hughes said the fans and the organization were huge reasons he came back to Buffalo. They are in Buffalo to play football, not go clubbing. Meanwhile Philly fans continue their immature tirades. Is it coincidence that Foles is also quoted as being “thrilled to be out of Philly”?

  17. in a way it is becoming apparent that kelly did mccoy and maclin a favor. kelly is going after MM. obvious after the bradford trade. what chip really wanted was the #10 pick. they will give tenn a big pkg and get MM. so eagles will be in “QB rebuild” mode for 1-2 yrs and didn’t want to pay other skill guys a lot of money while the QB is developing.

  18. rex’s bills will turn out like rex’s jets. offense will be mismanaged, a good defense will go to waste, team won’t win and rex will get fired in a few yrs.

blame the pegula’s for this one.

  19. “It’s a blessing to be in Buffalo”….words I never thought I’d see grouped together in 1 sentence.

  20. Maybe he should focus on appreciating the restaurant workers who feed him by tipping more than a quarter.

So it’s not personal but just business? Cool so no whining next time an Eagle player holds out or plays hardball during contract negotiations from you.

  22. “I was disappointed just because I didn’t know what was going on,” McCoy said. “I knew I had a big cap hit, so I knew there would be some conversations to try to fix the contract, but other than that I didn’t know anything.” – Shady

Doubt a lot of you saw it but a headline on Philly.com where Shady was adamant he wasn’t going to take less money.

Lesean, be sure to take your Twitter account with you you glamour back. don’t forget your dancing shoes either, Fred Astaire. You got ~ 2 years left and you never had the top end speed to take it to the house anyway. Got tiresome seeing you caught from behind.

    Enjoy Buffalo, loser.

  23. How much of a tip should should a guy really leave for freakin Cheese Steak . It is only a freakin Sandwich . At least here he can order a Roast Beef .Oh wait thats a just a sandwich too. Oh Well I am not a food server ‘ so just run for 1200 or 1300 Yrds and all is good with me Shady .

  24. He was the cause…Not Chip. He stated VERY clearly and I quote ” I will consider restructure, but not a penny less. That’s what sealed your fate ” Shady”. That and this offense being based on rhythm. Not up tempo. Chip wasn’t willing to pay 12 million to a running back who put the offense in 2 and 15s 50% of the time. Good luck with Rex. I’m sure he’ll get a shady tattoo on his butt.
