Ravens get a fourth and a fifth in exchange for Haloti Ngata

The Lions filled the gigantic hole in the middle of their defense, and they did it with the middle of their draft.

According to Peter King of Sports Illustrated, the Lions obtained defensive tackle Haloti Ngata from the Ravens in exchange for a fourth- and a fifth-round pick.

Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome loves to accumulate draft picks, and this just gives him more ammunition.

The Ravens have drafted Timmy Jernigan and Brandon Williams the last two years in the second and third rounds, which gave them the flexibility to move on from the 31-year-old Ngata, who refused a pay cut from his scheduled $8.5 million.

Ngata’s also in the last year of his contract, which means the Lions are suddenly in another contract year with yet another top defensive tackle.

UPDATE 4:39 p.m. ET: The Lions also get a seventh-rounder back in the deal, per adam Schefter of ESPN.
