A player who had his greatest NFL success in a Lovie Smith-led defense is reportedly set to meet with the Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay will host Cowboys defensive tackle Henry Melton on a free agent visit, Jenna Laine of SportsTalkFlorida.com reported.

Melton’s best seasons were in Smith’s final two years in Chicago. From 2011 through 2012, Melton notched 68 tackles and 13 sacks and became one of the NFL’s up-and-coming interior linemen. However, he suffered an ACL tear in 2013, and he would depart the Bears after the season.

The 28-year-old Melton (60th in PFT’s free agent rankings) recorded 15 tackles and five sacks in 2014 for Dallas, largely in a reserve role. Given his production in Smith’s scheme, he would seem a solid fit for Tampa Bay.
