The Raiders are reportedly meeting with a former starting quarterback.
Minnesota’s Christian Ponder is huddling with Oakland on Friday, Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports reports.
The Vikings’ top pick in 2011, the 27-year-old Ponder started 36 games in four seasons with Minnesota. He is PFT’s 106th-ranked free agent.
If the Raiders were to add Ponder, it would cast more doubt on Matt Schaub’s future in Oakland. The Texans’ former starter, Schaub is set to make $5.5 million in salary in 2015, per NFLPA records.
Ponder (6-2, 229) has connected on 632-of-1,057 passes for 6,658 yards in regular season play, committing 46 turnovers, throwing 38 touchdowns and rushing for seven TDs.
UPDATE 4:59 p.m. ET: Ponder is likely to sign a one-year contract with Oakland, Adam Caplan of ESPN reports.
