The Panthers have reduced their tight end ranks by one.
Carolina released third-year pro Mike McNeill on Monday, according to the NFL’s personnel notice.
A Nebraska product, the 27-year-old McNeill has appeared in 32 regular season games in stints with Indianapolis (2011) and St. Louis (2011-2013), catching five passes for 36 yards. He spent the 2014 offseason with Carolina before being waived with an injury settlement, then signed a futures deal with the club in January.
The Panthers have four tight ends on the roster, with Greg Olsen and Ed Dickson the top options.
