Shortly after word surfaced that wide receiver Percy Harvin signed a one-year contract with the Bills, there was a report that said the 49ers were making a late push to sign him away.

Sources told PFT that Harvin was “100 percent Bills,” but the team didn’t make a formal announcement of the signing. Until Wednesday, anyway.

The Bills have now officially announced that Harvin is part of their 90-man roster. Harvin played for Bills coach Rex Ryan and wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal during his time with the Jets in 2014.

Harvin landed with the Jets after a trade from the Seahawks for a sixth-round pick, far less than the Seahawks gave the Vikings to acquire Harvin in 2013. They went on to win the Super Bowl with Harvin a bystander for almost the entire season and then traded Harvin after five games amid reports of Harvin being a poor fit in the offense and the locker room.

The Bills will hope things play out in a more positive direction this time around. If they do, the additions of Harvin, LeSean McCoy and Charles Clay (assuming the Dolphins don’t match the offer the Bills made for him) to go with Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods offer the promise of an improved offensive attack in Buffalo.
