If the Buccaneers don’t draft quarterback Jameis Winston, the alternative could be to trade the pick. And the pick could be traded to the Jets.
According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets will be bringing in Jameis Winston for a visit.
Per Mehta, the Jets canceled a private workout with Winston after his 102-pass Pro Day workout, deeming it to be unnecessary after a thorough throwing session.
Still, the private workout has plenty of value, given that the team can work directly with the player on the field in order to get a feel for his ability to run their offense and his interactions with coaches.
It’s unlikely Winston would slide to No. 6, unless the recent spike in chatter regarding his off-field issues (which had been dormant for weeks) causes the Buccaneers and Titans to skip him -- and prevents anyone else from trading up with the Jaguars, Raiders, or Washington.
