Monday’s PFT Live on NBC Sports Radio included a visit from sports attorney David Cornwell, who addressed his stir-creating comments from Friday at a sports law symposium in Philadelphia regarding one of his highest-profile clients, Jameis Winston.
Cornwell said Winston is ready for the NFL on the field, but that he’s not ready for the NFL off the field. The context was broader than that; Cornwell thinks no incoming draft pick is ready for the NFL off the field. Cornwell also explained that the things Winston has experienced make him more ready than most.
Cornwell also said that Winston has “it” -- and that the “it” factor will serve him well on and off the field at the next level, whether he lands in Tampa or if a team with an aggressive local media like the Jets trades up to get him.
