Eagles may give G.J. Kinne a shot as something other than QB

As soon as the Eagles made plans to sign “quarterback” Tim Tebow, people began wondering how they were going to craft a role to fit him.

Perhaps the role they’re crafting for another one could shed some light on his.

According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, the Eagles are going to give quarterback G.J. Kinne a chance to win a role as a receiver, a return man, or a special teamer.

Kinne has the kind of athleticism to make you think he could pull off a Brad Smith-type role (at least if you’re the smartest guy in the room, who can turn things into things other than what they are).

Kinne averaged 3.1 yards per rush attempt in three years at Tulsa, which isn’t the kind of stat line that makes you think he’s a dynamic runner.

But if he’s not taking quarterback snaps in practice, it does allow more for Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley and Tebow, while Sam Bradford recovers from last year’s knee injury.

And if Tebow doesn’t make it as a passer, maybe Kelly’s thinking about the same kind of thing for him, or another weird variation like a two-point conversion specialist or something.
