Report: Broncos hosting Ravens in season opener

Getty Images

The NFL will announce the schedule for the 2015 season on Tuesday night, but the number of games leaking out ahead of the made-for-TV unveiling is continuing on Tuesday afternoon.

Vic Lombardi of CBS4 in Denver reports that the Broncos will open up the season at home with a Sunday, September 13 game against the Ravens.  That would pit Gary Kubiak against his 2014 team in his first game as the head coach of the Broncos.

Kubiak left Baltimore after one year as the Ravens’ offensive coordinator to return to the team he played for as a quarterback and began his coaching career with as an assistant. The Broncos also signed former Ravens tight end Owen Daniels and safety Darian Stewart as free agents this offseason.

All that familiarity should help with some of the advance scouting for both teams, although we imagine that even teams with less connections will be able to squeeze in some time in the film room between now and September.

Tough way to open the season for the Ravens, but at least it gets that one out of the way early. Probably the least winnable game on Baltimore’s schedule.

P Money will throw 7 TDs again.

At this rate, all the games will be “leaked” before the 8pm “release” time.

Jesus… Again? NFL lives giving Peyton all summer to game plan for the Ravens.

    No bias at all though!

Setting the Ravens up for a loss I see. Flacco just might poop on Peytons parade once more.

Browns in 1rst place after week 1.

  11. watermelon1 says: Apr 21, 2015 6:56 PM

    @milehigh85…

It’s a lot different when you’re talking about Peyton manning and the Broncos with all the audibles they like to run…

I suppose you could say that because they have a new OC… the Ravens get them before they can get in midseason form…

  12. campcre3k says: Apr 21, 2015 6:57 PM

    31-17 Denver

Cute Teddy….at least you refrained from your usual bathroom humor.

Be careful Potty mouth Ted……..you are not gracious in defeat and cant eat crow so you tend to go in hiding when faced with defeat.

These aren’t “leaks”. Seriously. This stuff is pouring out. Gushing. Spewing. Pick your euphemism. Any which way you say it, you still have to mention that the NFL can’t keep it’s mouth shut.

  19. milehigh85 says: Apr 21, 2015 7:20 PM

@watermellon1 Broncos won’t be any closer to mid season form than anybody else on opening day. Regardless it will be a good game… Plenty of energy and story lines to keep us all jacked.

Typical arrogant Denver fans. Good luck losing in the playoffs. Again. If your team gets in. Kubiak’s career playoff record 2-2. Good offensive coordinator, mediocre head coach. Norv Turner 2.0. Now for some football talk – Denver doesn’t need until mid season to figure out their offense. Last time us Ravens fans made those comments – that Megahead needed to develop timing with Welker, etc. – he torched us for 7 TDs. That’s a fact. Formidable opponent on the road, and I’m looking forward to the match up. Good teams win on the road, and I’m certainly not chalking this one up as a loss.

    Megahead?

Does Peyton’s intelligence and hard work emasculate you somehow?

I guess it would be safe to say I would need to pass you to do that. Your posts are written by a bully not accustomed to being challenged….sorry Teddy but I don’t support Ray Rices actions like you did.

Strange to you is sane to me.

  24. TebowedOutOfThePostSeasonAndNeverToReturn says: Apr 21, 2015 8:24 PM

What kind of insecure weirdo brings up Ray Rice? Must be a teenie weenie Steeler troll.

This will be a good game. Anyone looking to history to pick this game well be very disappointed. Baltimore has had an excellent off-season. Ozzie has solidified our secondary with the signing of Jimmie Smith. Before his injury he was a top 10 corner. With Lardarius Webb healthy our secondary becomes our strength. Our biggest lost was Haloti Ngata but we’re deep on our defensive line. Denver has had a good off-season as well so the draft will be interesting for both. We will definitely be forcing Peyton to throw the ball. This game will be won by whoever can successfully run the ball. Both teams have a strong pass rush. Our run and red zone defense is stronger. Denver’s passing game is better. Our run games are close but we have a slight edge. This game will be close and no cake walk for either team. I’m biased of course so my prediction is Baltimore winning 34-31 in overtime.

  26. tedmurph says: Apr 21, 2015 8:42 PM

Condemned Rice’s actions, as well as Roethlisberger’s. As well as certain innane posters who’s only station in life is cutting and pasting other people’s thoughts.

  27. sorosbolshevism says: Apr 21, 2015 8:44 PM

Maybe Denver can work a draft day trade to get Rahim Moore back from Houston. THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN RAINBOW WILL LIVE IN INFAMY!!!

  28. dudeicle says: Apr 22, 2015 1:06 AM

maybe the Ravens give Peyton a little bruise on his thigh so Denver can start explaining early on why he’s suckin’

  29. joetoronto says: Apr 22, 2015 5:01 AM

Take the 15 and take out MegaHead in the 1st game of the season. 🙂

  30. inozwetrust says: Apr 22, 2015 9:18 AM

Tough opener for Ravens. I think we might start the season 0-1 but when the dust settles in December the Ravens, once again, will be in the playoffs. We are definitely the class of the AFC North – and that’s even before Oz works his magic in the draft.

    Go Oz

  31. onewinningdrive96 says: Apr 22, 2015 2:04 PM

Can’t wait for this game……looking forward to seeing how the re-built secondary will play. Should be a good game. Go Ravens!!!!
