The Rams aren’t the only club willing to take a chance on a player coming off an ACL tear in Round One.

With an eye on the future, the Bengals have selected Texas A&M offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi with the No. 21 pick.

Ogbuehi is about five months removed from an ACL tear suffered in the Aggies’ bowl game on December 29. He could be in line for a redshirt season behind Andrew Whitworth and Andre Smith at tackle. Longer-term, however, it’s possible he could be groomed to take the place of left tackle Whitworth, who is in the final year of his contract.

Ogbuehi was taken 11 picks after Georgia tailback Todd Gurley, whom St. Louis took 10th overall. Gurley’s ACL tear occurred in November, which could put him slightly ahead in the recovery process.
